Second-handers

Look arnd us, we wonder why people suffer? Coz they seek happiness and never find it. If any man stopped and asked himself whether he's ever held a truly personal desire, he'd find the answer. He'd see that all his wishes, his efforts, his dreams, his ambitions are motivated by other men. He's not really struggling even for material wealth, but for the second-hander's delusion-prestige. A stamp of approval from others, not his own. He can find no joy in the struggle and no joy when he has succeeded. Then he wonders why he's unhappy. Every form of happiness is private. Our greatest moments are personal, self-motivated, not to be touched. The things which are sacred, pure and precious need not be approved by the world.
Egoists are the people who work through their own brain. Second-handers thinking pattern: not to judge but to repeat, not to do but to give the impression of doing, not creation but show, not ability but friendship, not merit but pull. When we suspend our faculty of independent judgment we suspend consciousness. To stop consciousness is to stop life. Second-handers have no sense of reality. The second-hander acts, but the source of his actions is scattered in every other living person. It can be portrayed as "a blind mass running amuck, to crush you without sense or purpose...."

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Strangest thing happened today. Someone sent me a complete season 2 of friends. I dunno who this person is. Although the funny thing is that I had bought Season 2 very recently, like a week back. With that in my collection I own 6 seasons totally, out of which 3 were gift from someone and 3 I had bought. Anyway, the point is I have 2 copies of season 2 now. Next time please check with me b4 buying a secret gift.:) so that its not redundant. I still have few more seasons to go to make the entire collection. Thanks anyway.

Southern Grandma Joke

Someone @ work sent me this funny bit..enjoy reading it.

" Southern Grandma.........you've just gotta love them.............

Lawyers should never ask a Southern grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer.

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.

"The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?"

She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.

"The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench, and in a very quiet voice, said, "If either of you bastards asks her if she knows me, I'll throw your sorry asses in jail for contempt."

Awesome weather

Alrighty you all non-arizona people...I don't know what has happened to this desert place, it's been raining almost every night. Trust me it's really nice weather (not sunny, not hot). Its gloomy, cloudy and pretty romantic to be honest. If it stays like this for long time, people will come here to vacation. Other problem with this weather is that I don't feel like working.. I took 4 breaks today in span of 1 hour and wanted to leave from work sooner.

Utilities

Ok so yesterday when I reach home and everything looked fine and only after few minutes I realized that A/C is not working...WTH..:). Imagine its 106 outside we cannot even afford a day. I took a nice shower which made me feel good and decided to go my friend's place to sleep over. I hope it doesn't happen again.
Now this gone weekend I used my new Bose speakers to watch movies and listen to music and I think it was money well spent coz the sound quality is really awesome and it doesn't break even in loud volume. Only thing you cannot meddle too much in terms of base and treble etc. But its real good sound quality for its price.

Weekend

This friday I went to pick up my friend at the airport and as usual I landed there like hour and half earlier. So I decided to kill some time having coffee but that didn't take too long so I called up home(India) spoke to my folks for like 15 minutes and I still had solid one hour to wait. I tried to listen to music for sometime but then I had to find something more interesting to do. So I decided to observe people who were coming for long weekend. So I strategically placed myself where I could see both pickers and comers..:). Now it wasn's like the regular weekend it had some sort of festivity attached to it just coz it was a long weekend and people looked happier. So one plane came and people started pouring in. There were few grandparents to whom kids just ran and stuck to hug. Then there were couples who were meeting after a long time so the joy showed in their tight hug and kiss. Then there were these friends who were busy on the phone coordinating multiple friends and when they saw one person it was more like "wassup dude." Then one very cute guy comes with like a dozen roses and like me he was early too. I saw him pacing to and fro multiple times and he went to look at flight info like zillion times. I was like dude its not gonna change but I also felt ..how sweet. Then I began to guess who has he come to pick will she be his girlfriend, mom or grandma maybe. I was very curious to see who he had come to pick. after really loooooong time I saw him moving forward and there was this oriental girl cam and they both hugged and smooched and then he gave those roses (girl actually jumped seein those flowers) and then he took her luggage and went home.

User interface design

I am reading about user interface design these days and came across this cool line "Using DOS is like juggling with straight razors. Using a Mac is like shaving with a bowling pin" and I agree with it since I have used both the platforms. I my first class on AutoCAD was on DOS and experience was "I am better off manual drafting." Since we are using software and various programs are creeping in our lives in almost everything so its usability is gonna count.

In name of creativity

College of Architecture and Environmental planning of ASU is currently fashioning an informational kiosk in the centre of two buildings which no one was aware of till it was told.I understand being creative means to be innovative but freakishly out of place which I would really question. Be it shape, material and form. Check it yourself and let me know what you guys think of it. It also won an award..:)

Can you spot a fake smile?

Can you understand if the person talkin to you is giving you a fake or genuine smile. I took fake smile test and got 15 out of 20 correct. It means that I am pretty decent at it.

Mac Trivia

Yahoo messenger always had an edge over MSN because you could be online in invisible mode. The great thing is that you can do that on Mac msn too, pretty neat...!! Only hitch that I see that you cannot chat with a buddy in invisible mode on msn..:(, which is possible in Yahoo.
