Thanks for bringing this issue into focus. While one does read about the suicides, I was hitherto unaware that this was so chronic. How was the turnout at the Vigil?
It is indeed alarming now! the number of suicides is so huge that it is disturbing and depressing...i wonder why things have to take this such monumental size before they get noticed..anyway, aid updates on the issue are here:

We had about 36 people attending the vigil.
Ahem! There had been a vigil organized in my location. Had no idea.
I suppose one can also e-mail one's MP in India about this issue. Don't know how effective this will be, but worth a try. Found this link for their e-mail ids.
Yes we all can contribute in our little ways: glad to see that you celebrated Bapu's birthday in a fitting manner.
